BEFORE DYEING

As the final colour may vary depending on hair type, it’s best to ask your hairdresser about your natural shade and the thickness of your hair. The finer or lighter the hair, the faster and more intensively the plant-based dye is absorbed.
To make sure that the colour meets your expectations, you should first dye a test strip before the first time you use the dye. For a test strip, mix around a teaspoon of dye powder with 30 ml of boiling water or tea. The colour shade card on the back of this brochure shows final colours for all LOGONA plant-based hair dyes and is intended to serve as a guide.
You only need one pack of LOGONA plant-based hair dye powder or Color Creme for shoulder-length hair, but we recommend using two packs the first time you use it on very long hair.
LOGONA plant-based hair dyes can be mixed together. Especially in the red and brown spectrum, all the shades you could think of are possible. You can also use shade 101 black intense to mute the colour of any other shade. You can also mix together plant-based dye Color Cremes and powders.
LOGONA plant-based dyes provide a long-lasting colour that varies depending on your personal haircare routine and the condition of your hair. They are not wash-out toners, but the colour can lose intensity a little after a few washes.
An opened packet of LOGONA plant-based hair dye powder can be used for six months. However, mixed product should be used straight away. An opened tube of LOGONA Color Creme should be used within three months of opening.
LOGONA plant-based hair dyes are free from any potentially harmful chemical ingredients. It is safe to use plant-based hair dye during pregnancy and breastfeeding. There are no known risks or side effects.
To optimally prepare the hair for the plant-based hair dye, we recommend using the LOGONA mineral clay pre-treatment first. Containing bio birch leaf extract, this product frees the hair of conditioning and styling residue, dandruff and excess oil so that the plant-based hair dye can get a significantly better hold on the hair. To avoid dyeing the skin around the hairline, a rich cream, such as the LOGONA cell-renewing 24 hour vitamin creme, should be applied along the hairline. Even so, any skin discolouration will disappear on its own after a short while. You can also remove it using a mixture of lemon juice and vegetable oil.
Yes, shade 101 black intense can be used to mute other shades. However this will not work on hair with grey.
Yes, shade 101 black intense can be used on its own. We recommend two dye treatments with 101 black intense for full coverage. Dye a test strip first, and make sure that you leave at least twelve hours between the two dye treatments.
LOGONA plant-based hair dyes can be used to create natural colour gradients in a dyed shade or on top of your natural hair colour.
• In light blonde hair, you can use red streaks to create a bright coral effect.
• In medium to dark blonde hair, you can use red streaks to create ruby red shades.
• Red streaks can be used to create mahogany accents on naturally light brown hair.
• 101 black intense will create interesting colour contrasts and shimmering black-brown shades on hair dyed with 050 mahogany brown or 060 nut brown. To dye a streak, simply separate individual strands and apply the LOGONA plant-based hair dye evenly before wrapping in aluminium foil or cling film. The development time is the same as it would be for a full dye treatment. Finally, carefully wash out – and set with the LOGONA colouration post-treatment colour care mask.
If you have grey hair, it is very important to dye a test strip first. If you want to achieve an intense, dark shade on grey hair, it is sometimes necessary to dye the hair several times. You should leave at least twelve hours between each dye, as some shades may continue to get darker. Please note: shade 101 black intense should never be used on its own on grey hair, but should be mixed with other shades. The stated development time is for orientation only and can be changed depending on your hair structure and desired colour intensity. 010 gold blonde can be used on blonde hair with grey for a final colour with low levels of red, while 020 caramel blonde can be used for a redder shade. 010 gold blonde can be left to develop for up to two hours like the other shades, but 020 caramel blonde should only be left for 15 to 30 minutes. You can also mix 010 gold blonde and 020 caramel blonde together (development time of one to two hours). Purely natural LOGONA plant-based hair dyes cannot be used to lighten hair. For a light colour on grey hair, the Color Creme in 200 copper blonde and 240 nougat brown can be used, as an example.

DURING DYEING

Plant-based hair dyes can be left on the hair for between 15 minutes and two hours. Generally, you should leave the dye in for longer on thick and/or dark hair than on fine and/or blonde hair. You should know what development time is right for you from your test strip. The longer that LOGONA plant-based hair dye is left to develop, the stronger the red shades in the dye will be, leading to a more intense final shade. There is an overview of recommended development times on the leaflet inside each pack.
To avoid dyeing the skin around the hairline, a rich cream, such as the LOGONA cell-renewing 24 hour vitamin creme, should be applied along the hairline and cotton wool should be used to create a barrier. Even so, any skin discolouration will disappear on its own after a short while. You can also remove it using a mixture of lemon juice and vegetable oil.
The colour intensity of plant-based dye can be increased when the dye is used at regular intervals. However, as plant-based dyes stabilise after application because of the effect of oxygen, you should leave at least twelve hours between each dye treatment.

AFTER DYEING

Use the Color Fix post-treatment immediately after dyeing to set the colour and intensify the brilliance of the plant-based hair dye. We recommend not washing with shampoo for twelve to 24 hours. Containing burdock oil, betaine and bio birch leaf extract, the posttreatment is applied after dyeing to seal the plant-based dye like an invisible film, ensuring long-lasting colour brilliance. It can also be used as an intensive mask between two dye treatments (but not if you are applying two dye treatments directly one after the other). LOGONA colour reflex shampoos are ideal for washing your hair between two applications of plant-based dyes: chamomile nourishes blonde hair, henna makes red to brown hair shine, and hazelnut adds a fascinating sheen to brown hair. Colour care shampoos contain colourant plant extracts. They help to extend the life of your plantbased dye treatment as well as care for your hair. You can also use them to liven up your natural hair colour. But they are not intended to replace a toner.
LOGONA plant-based hair dyes provide a long-lasting dye treatment. This means that subtle roots will be visible after one to two months. The contrast between the dyed hair and new growth is more subtle than with chemically dyed hair. Silky, non-drip LOGONA plant-based hair dye Color Cremes can be used to easily top up your roots, as the dye can be applied to the hair straight from the tube. But plant-based hair dye powder can also be used to freshen up roots. Apply part of the hair dye mixture to the roots. After around half of the development time has passed, distribute the rest of the mixture over the rest of the hair to refresh your dyed shade. To make root top-ups easier, LOGONA offers its twelve plant-based hair dye powders in practical 2 x 50 g packs. This helps you measure out powder to top up your roots more easily.
To improve combability, a conditioner or hair mask can be used (such as the LOGONA wheat conditioner or bio jojoba repair hair treatment).
To avoid this, we always recommend dyeing a test strip first. If the final colour still ends up different, you can use the same or a darker dye over the last treatment. It is not possible to lighten hair with purely natural dye. As some shades only reach their final colour after twelve hours, we recommend waiting at least this long before you apply another dye.
There are various reasons why hair might not absorb dye in some cases. It can happen that colour pigments cannot hold onto healthy hair with an especially smooth, damage-free surface. In this case, we recommend pre-treating the hair with the LOGONA mineral clay pre-treatment. You may have used products such as hairspray or setting products that build up films on the hair or haircare products containing silicones. These create a smooth layer on the hair, making it impossible for the dye to adhere to the hair. You can recognise silicones on a product’s ingredient list by the endings ‘-cone’ (e.g. cyclomethicone or dimethicone) and ‘-xane’ (dimethylpolysiloxane or phenyl methylpolysiloxane). If this is the case, we recommend switching to silicone-free products and using the LOGONA mineral clay pre-treatment before dyeing. By the way, all LOGONA haircare products are free from silicones. This is one of the criteria set by the NATRUE label, which has been awarded to all LOGONA products. We recommend switching to natural haircare products a while before you plan to dye your hair.
